American Wine Society National Tasting Project

American Wine Society National Tasting Project

For our September meeting of the San Diego Wine Guild of 2018, we participated in the American Wine Society National Tasting Project presented by Brad Bruce. The National Tasting Project is an educational wine tasting opportunity for AWS chapters across the US. Each year the American Wine Society committee chooses a theme and selects several wines that show different styles within a theme. Chapters hold tastings to sample the wines and then see how their ratings compare to other chapters.

Since the National Tasting Project is a blind wine tasting, and we were not given the wine names or tasting spec sheets until after all the chapter scores were tallied.

The Wines Tasted:

  • Vale D. Maria - Ruby Porto (link)
  • Castello d'Alba - Vinhas Velhas Tinto 2015 (link)
